ECTOIN

Ectoin is a very special amino acid produced by bacteria that can survive under extreme environmental conditions such as extreme dryness, UV radiation or high salt concentrations. This ability to protect against stress can also be used for the skin.

On the one hand, ectoine has an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect on the skin and increases skin resistance. (1) (2) In addition, Ectoin moisturizes particularly effectively by minimizing transepidermal water loss and thus inhibiting dehydration of the epidermis. (2)

Ectoin in a skin care cream can improve skin ageing parameters such as skin hydration, skin elasticity or skin surface structure. (3) In cell studies, ectoine was even able to counteract UVA-induced skin ageing at different cell levels. (3) (4)
