MULTIFUNCTIONALITY
Retinal works in a variety of ways: it reduces signs of skin aging, promotes skin elasticity, optimizes skin texture and at the same time has a pore-clearing effect that combats/reduces impurities.
WELL-AGING COMPLEX
The evidence-based retinal concentration in combination with 5 peptides gives the formulation its 'well aging' properties. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 and Copper Tripeptide-1 moisturize the skin while actively stimulating collagen synthesis.
REDUCED IRRITATION POTENTIAL
In order to proactively counteract any potential irritation caused by the retinal, the serum has been enriched with a ceramide complex to strengthen the skin barrier, ectoin, allantoin and skin-soothing pre- and postbiotics. This preventative approach in the form of these active ingredients ensures that the positive effects of retinal can be realized without undesirable side effects.
HIGH STABILITY
Retinal, used here as an active ingredient encapsulated in liposomes, guarantees greater stability in the formulation and improves the skin penetration of the serum.
STRENGTHENING THE SKIN BARRIER
The skin's own ingredients such as ceramides, cholesterol, phytosphingosine and squalane in the serums help to strengthen the skin barrier and at the same time reduce transepidermal water loss.
RETINAL VS. RETINOL

Retinoids
RETINAL VS. RETINOL
The choice between retinal and retinol, both derivatives of the active ingredient vitamin A, depends on individual skin needs and goals as well as the concentration used. Retinoids, which include retinol and retinal, are chemical compounds that are derived from vitamin A. Retinol and retinal are the best-known representatives of this group. These substances differ in their chemical structure as well as in their application in dermatology and skin care.
Retinal is a particularly effective form of vitamin A. It is highly effective and well tolerated at the same time. The active ingredient only requires one conversion step to change into its active form, vitamin A acid. This makes it a popular well-aging active ingredient that shows significant effects in the treatment of wrinkles, skin roughness and water loss.
Retinol, another form of vitamin A, requires two conversion steps compared to retinal in order to transform into its active form, vitamin A acid. In recent years, retinol has experienced a real hype as an anti-ageing ingredient and shows positive effects such as stimulating the skin's own cell renewal, promoting collagen production and balancing the skin's structure
The main difference between retinal and retinol is their effectiveness, with retinal being the more potent substance. Even in low concentrations of 0.05%, it can stimulate collagen production and is better tolerated than retinol. Retinal and retinol have similar benefits, such as improving skin elasticity and reducing wrinkles, although retinal is generally better tolerated and is even more stable and effective, particularly in its encapsulated form.
ABSOLUTE A
If you have never used a product containing retinal before, start with Absolute A Retinal Serum. This contains a low concentration of 0.05% retinal.
ABSOLUTE A+
If your skin has already become accustomed to using Retinal, feel free to use the more concentrated Absolute A+ Retinal Serum. The serum is more concentrated with a retinal content of 0.1%.
FAQ
The basic routine we recommend is as follows: Cleanse, Prepare, TREAT, Moisturize. TREAT initially stands for the Absolute A series, other products will follow. The retinal sandwich method can be used to minimize skin irritation: To do this, after cleansing with the Ten out of Ten Cleanser, apply the Barrier Boost Cream, then the Absolute A/A+ Serum and finally a thin layer of Barrier Boost CPA Barrier Repair Cream.
No, it is not recommended to use products containing retinoids during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The use of products containing retinoids can be problematic during this time, as excessive amounts of vitamin A can be harmful to the unborn child or breastfed baby.
Regular use of the product is most important for the effect. The frequency can be increased carefully and slowly, depending on how accustomed the skin is, from once a week to daily use.
In our formulation, we have placed particular emphasis on minimizing the irritation potential of the retinal by adding soothing and nourishing ingredients such as 10% pre- and postbiotics, ceramides, 5 different peptides and ectoin. These ingredients are carefully selected to strengthen the skin barrier and improve the retinal's tolerance.
However, if undesirable reactions such as dryness or skin irritation occur, the frequency of application of the product can be reduced. For example, you can consider applying the product only every second or third evening. This allows the skin to gradually become accustomed to the product and minimizes the risk of irritation.
If you have already had experience with retinoids (e.g. retinol/retinal) and use them regularly without irritation, Absolute A+ is the right serum for you. Important to note: 0.1% retinal corresponds approximately to the effect of 1% retinol, so it is best to start with a low application frequency!
We recommend using the products in the Absolute A series alternately with chemical peels and not on the same evening. Ideally, you should use the chemical peel in the evening before the retinal and take a break from the active ingredients on the following days.
Yes, vitamin C and vitamin A can be combined in skin care. For example, a vitamin C product can be applied under sun protection in the morning and vitamin A in the evening. Here too, it is important to pay attention to how your skin feels and the concentration used in each case, as vitamin C, e.g. in the form of ascorbic acid, can also have an irritating effect. Don't forget: sun protection (ideally SPF 50) during the day is mandatory when using vitamin C and vitamin A.
The Absolute A series can also be used in summer. It is particularly important to ensure adequate sun protection (ideally at least SPF 50) during the day. If necessary, the frequency of application can be reduced in summer.
