VITIS VINIFERA SEED OIL
Vitis vinifera seed oil, better known as grape seed oil, is extracted from the seeds of grapes - a valuable by-product of wine production. In skin care, it is valued for its skin nourishing properties and high antioxidant activity.(1-5)
Grape seed oil contains a high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially linoleic acid (omega-6), as well as vitamin E, phytosterols and phytochemicals such as catechins and gallic acid. These bioactive components can help to protect the skin from oxidative stress, strengthen the barrier function and reduce moisture loss.(2)
Studies show that Vitis vinifera seed oil has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and nourishing properties due to its composition. It can be used in cosmetic formulations to support the skin barrier, soothe the skin and improve the general appearance of the skin.(1,3)
In addition, recent findings suggest that components from Vitis vinifera can also contribute to supporting the skin microbiome and regulating inflammatory skin processes.(4)
